The New Puppies!

They are FINALLY here!

As you may or may not know, we are going to be breeding our Beagles. We have 2 females, Leela and Lola, and 1 male, Logan. We bred Leela with one of my friends Beagles, Bentley (Logan wasn't old enough yet). Leela was pregnant for almost 10 weeks, which is normal for Beagles. She was SO huge!

We thought she was going to have 8 or 9 puppies, I can't believe she only had 4.

On Sunday, 07/27/2008, at about 9:00 PM Leela gave birth to a little teenie tiny baby puppy. SO LITTLE!

It was dark, so the pictures are not the best, but you an see the little guy starting to suckle.

About an hour later, here was the next one.

In another hour, here was the next one.

and the last one... Until they were all here.

If Leela looks worn out, she was. It was a long night for all of us. All the little puppies trying to get some food from mom. I was really proud of Leela, she was so calm and knew exactly what to do. She is a great mommy and takes really good care of her little babies.

SLEEP!! What a great experience. Leela did great, and there we have 4 cute little bundles of joy as part of our family, even if it is only for a little while.

They all look like gerbals. They will just squeak, eat, sleep and poop, until they are about 10 days old. When they were 10 days old, the opened their eyes. So they did all the same things, but with their eyes open :) It was so fun to hold them and snuggle them when they were so little. Now that they are older, though, they look like little Beagles instead of gerbals.
